AimClear's blog self-describes as a search marketing blog for advertising agency, in-house & PR professionals.  This one is a regular read for me. They consistently post helpful material. Felt I had to share one of the most recent posts. This one by Manny Rivas is about landing page design. Here's the teaser list of Landing Page Sins.

  1. Unclear Call-to-Action
  2. Too Many Choices
  3. Asking for Too Much Info Too Soon
  4. Too Much Text
  5.  Not Keeping Your Promises
  6. Visual Distractions
  7. Lack of Trust

That list of design transgressions should be tempting enough. Read:  7 Landing Page Sins.

Organic search efforts by SEO types can be nullified by poor landing page design. It frustrates us as all wasted effort usually frustrates those who care about their work. It will likely anger a smart client who has invested their hard-earned money in the project. Certainly doesn't do much good to get a ton of traffic to a website/page only to have none of it convert to actual business.

We've  been harping on web designers a lot lately (some deserve it ) but we mean well. We DO NOT want to be in the web design business. Our love is SEO and search marketing. We are happiest when our best efforts combine with the best efforts of web designers to help make beautiful money babies for our clients.
